Our Teaching

We aim to inspire children to enjoy a lifetime of art and crafts by showing them how making things can be both fun, therapeutic and an outlet to express and develop their creativity.

Our Curriculum

We have carefully designed our curriculum to offer children plenty of variety in the types of projects that they will undertake. This helps both maintain their engagement and ensures that most children will find a technique or medium they particularly enjoy. Currently the projects include collage, clay modelling, textile crafts, 3-D paper modelling and paper-mache as well as painting and drawing.

Subject matter and materials

With our experience in product development for the children’s gifting market we have a keen awareness of trends and understand that children are more motivated to create things they will actually want to keep! We incorporate materials we know that kids will love like iridescent paper, florescent coloured paints and glow in the dark sequins whilst our themes include outer space, sea-life, the rainforest, fairy-tales, architecture, gemstones and sweet treats.

Nurturing creativity

All of our projects allow for some personal creative expression, we never want everyone’s finished art work to look the same. Our greatest joy is seeing how each child puts a little piece of their personality and taste into everything they make!

Once or twice a term we have an ‘Imagination Week’ in which children are given a selection of inspiring materials and challenged to make, paint or draw something inspired by a chosen theme for example, ‘Tropical’. We believe these sessions really give the most creative children (who are not necessarily the most artistically skilled) a chance to shine!

Supporting all children

We support children who are struggling with projects by breaking tasks into manageable steps and offering alternative tools or materials if we think this will help. We focus on building confidence through encouragement and positive reinforcement, prioritising the creative process over perfection. By fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment, we help children develop artistic skills at their own pace.

We welcome children with Special Educational Needs and will always reach out to their parents or guardians to find out what adaptations can reasonably be made to ensure that they have a great experience in the class.
